Biography

Dr. Gary Landsberg graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1976 and established the Doncaster Animal Clinic in 1976. Dr. Landsberg offers behavior consultation services for owners of pets with behavior problems. He is a diplomate and a past president of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists (ACVB) and is also a diplomate of the European College of Animal Welfare and Behavioural Medicine. He is a frequent speaker at veterinary conferences around the world, and is a prolific author of research articles, behavior texts and book chapters. He is co-author of Behavior Problems of the Dog and Cat from Saunders (3rd edition, 2013), a book and CD of behaviour client handouts for pet owners from Lifelearn, the behaviour chapters in the Merck Veterinary Manual (together with Dr. Denenberg), and author of a chapter, Growing Old with Grace in the book Decoding your Dog written entirely by ACVB diplomates. Dr. Landsberg has also hosted his own TV show, Free for the Asking on the Life Network, and a pet show on CFRB and continues to appear regularly in the media. Dr. Landsberg is a behaviour consultant for veterinarians on the Veterinary Information Network (VIN), Vice President of Veterinary Affairs at CanCog technologies and the head of research and a practice certification veterinarian for Fear Free. In the year 2000, Dr. Landsberg received the companion animal behaviour award from the American Animal Hospital Association and in 2014, the meritorious service award from the Western Veterinary Conference.
