Biography

Mark graduated from Sydney University with Honors in 1983. He is Associate Professor of Small Animal Surgery at Murdoch University and leads Murdoch’s busy orthopaedic and neurosurgery referral service. Mark is a specialist Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons, holds a Masters degree in Veterinary Surgery and is a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Surgeons. He is an Australian, European and RCVS registered specialist surgeon. Mark is well known internationally having worked as a specialist in Europe and Australia and presented courses in orthopaedics in USA, Europe, UK, throughout Asia, Latin America and Australia for over 20 years. Mark is an internationally recognised and awarded teacher with a passion for orthopaedics. Mark has trained many specialist surgeons internationally through residency training programs at University of Liverpool, University College Dublin and Murdoch University. Mark’s main clinical interests are in small animal lameness, agility and performance / working dogs, minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery, fracture repair and management of orthopaedic trauma, arthroscopy and hip replacements. His main research interests are in fracture biomechanics, fracture repair, surgery for cruciate disease and patella luxation, joint loading and injuries in agility and working dogs. Mark is the Chair of AOVET Asia Pacific and is on the AOVET International Board and the AOVET Education Commission. AOVET (AOVET.org) is a Trustee of the AO Foundation (AOFoundation.org), an international not for profit foundation charged with clinical education, research and development in human and veterinary surgery internationally. Mark is the Australian representative of the European Board of Veterinary Specialisation. (www.ebvs.org)
